Understanding Certification
01
What is breeder certification?
Breeder certification is an independent assessment process conducted by a certification authority to determine whether an applicant meets defined standards. Certification results in the issuance of a formal status recorded within a public registry.
02
What does certification represent?
Certification indicates that an applicant has undergone review and met defined criteria. It reflects compliance with the Authority's standards at the time of evaluation. It is not a guarantee of future conduct or transaction outcomes.
03
Who can apply for certification?
Certification is available to eligible companion animal breeding operations, including breeders, kennels and catteries, provided they meet eligibility criteria and submit verifiable information.
04
Is certification permanent?
No. Certification remains valid only while the entity continues to meet applicable standards and conditions. It may be suspended or revoked if those conditions are not maintained.
05
Does certification guarantee a safe or successful transaction?
No. Certification does not guarantee transaction outcomes, animal health, or future performance. It documents the outcome of an independent certification review. Independent due diligence remains necessary.
Verification & Public Registry
06
How can I verify a breeder's certification status?
Every certified entity has a publicly accessible certification record that can be searched using its Certification ID through the official ElitePetz registry. Each record includes a certification identifier, status classification, and activation date.
07
What information is available in the public registry?
The registry provides a standardized record that includes:
-
Certification ID
-
Business or entity name
-
Country of operation
-
Species / Breed Category
-
Certification status
-
Activation date
-
Expiration date
Additional registry fields may be introduced as the certification framework evolves.
08
What is a Certification ID?
Every certified entity receives a unique Certification ID when certification is issued. This permanent identifier allows anyone to locate the official certification record in the public registry and helps distinguish it from similarly named businesses or breeders.
09
Can anyone search the certification registry?
Yes. The ElitePetz public registry is available to anyone without creating an account. Visitors can search by Certification ID or other available search criteria to confirm whether a certification record exists and review its current public status.
Certification Status & Lifecycle
10
What are the possible certification statuses?
Certification status is classified as follows:
Approved / Invited
The application has been approved and the applicant is invited to complete certification.
Active
Certification is currently valid.
suspended
Certification is temporarily restricted pending review or corrective action.
revoked
Certification has been permanently withdrawn.
expired
Certification has lapsed and is no longer active pending renewal.
11
Can certification status change over time?
Yes. Certification is not static. Status may change based on new information, compliance reviews, or enforcement actions. All status changes are recorded within a structured history under the governance framework.
12
What is recorded in certification status history?
Certification history records significant public status changes over time, including activation, suspension, expiration, revocation, and reinstatement where applicable.
13
Can a revoked certification be restored?
A previously revoked entity may submit a new application where permitted by the Authority's policies. Any new certification decision is evaluated independently and recorded as part of the public record.
14
How often is certification renewed?
Certification is issued for a defined validity period and must be renewed before expiration to remain active. Renewal requirements, applicable fees, and validity periods are described in the Fees & Validity section of the certification framework.
About the Authority
15
How is certification different from government licensing?
Certification is an independent, standards-based process conducted by a private authority. Government licensing is regulatory and issued by public agencies. The two systems serve different functions and may operate in parallel.
16
Is ElitePetz affiliated with any government or trade organization?
No. ElitePetz Certification Authority operates independently and is not affiliated with any government body, regulatory agency, or trade association.
17
What is the purpose of certification?
Certification introduces structure, transparency, and verifiable status into an industry that often relies on informal trust. It allows third parties to independently confirm whether an entity has undergone formal review.
18
Does ElitePetz investigate or enforce legal violations?
No. ElitePetz Certification Authority does not act as a regulatory or law enforcement body. Its role is limited to certification, status tracking, and enforcement within its own governance framework.
