Code of Ethics
1. Purpose and Status of This Document
The Code of Ethics establishes the professional and ethical obligations of all entities holding active ElitePetz Certified status.
Certification signifies compliance not only with technical standards, but with principles of integrity, transparency, responsible animal stewardship, and good-faith commercial conduct.
This Code forms part of the governing framework of the ElitePetz Certification Authority and may be referenced in enforcement decisions.
2. Scope of Application
This Code applies to:
➤ All certified breeders
➤ All business entities holding ElitePetz Certified status
➤ All authorized representatives acting on behalf of a certified entity
Obligations apply throughout the full certification lifecycle, including periods of conditional approval, probation, suspension review, or renewal.
3. Core Ethical Obligations
3.1 Integrity and Accuracy
Certified entities shall:
➤ Provide truthful and accurate representations regarding breeding practices, lineage, health status, and availability.
➤ Avoid misleading, deceptive, or exaggerated marketing claims.
➤ Disclose material information that would reasonably influence a purchaser's decision.
Intentional misrepresentation constitutes grounds for enforcement action.
3.2 Responsible Animal Stewardship
Certified entities shall:
➤ Maintain humane housing and care conditions.
➤ Provide appropriate veterinary oversight and preventive care.
➤ Avoid breeding practices that compromise animal health or welfare.
➤ Transfer animals in appropriate developmental condition.
Documented neglect, abuse, or systemic welfare violations may result in suspension or revocation.
3.3 Transparent Commercial Conduct
Certified entities shall:
➤ Utilize clear written agreements in transactions.
➤ Honor disclosed health guarantees and contractual terms.
➤ Refrain from deceptive pricing or hidden fee structures.
➤ Address legitimate buyer concerns in good faith.
A demonstrated pattern of exploitative or deceptive conduct may result in enforcement review.
3.4 Legal Compliance
Certified entities shall:
➤ Maintain required licenses or registrations where applicable.
➤ Comply with applicable animal welfare and consumer protection laws.
➤ Disclose material regulatory actions if requested by the Authority.
Loss of legally required licensing may trigger status review.
3.5 Protection of Certification Integrity
Certified entities shall:
➤ Use the ElitePetz Certified designation only while certification is active.
➤ Link certification badges exclusively to official ElitePetz verification pages.
➤ Refrain from altering or misrepresenting certification marks.
➤ Cease representation immediately upon suspension or revocation.
Misuse of certification marks constitutes a serious violation.
3.6 Cooperation With Oversight
Certified entities shall:
➤ Respond to official inquiries within designated timeframes.
➤ Provide documentation reasonably requested during reviews.
➤ Participate in renewal and verification procedures.
Failure to cooperate may result in suspension.
3.7 Non-Retaliation
Certified entities shall not retaliate against:
➤ Complainants
➤ Buyers submitting evidence
➤ Individuals cooperating in certification review processes
Retaliatory conduct may independently justify enforcement action.
4. Continuing Obligation
Ethical compliance is ongoing. Certification does not create immunity from review.
New information or evidence may result in reassessment of certification status.
5. Relationship to Enforcement
Violations of this Code may trigger actions under:

Enforcement determinations may reference specific provisions of this Code.
6. Amendments and Versioning
The ElitePetz Certification Authority may amend this Code as governance policies evolve.

➤ Certified entities will be notified of material changes.

A version history will be maintained for record integrity.
7. Acknowledgment
By applying for or maintaining ElitePetz Certified status, the applicant affirms:

➤ Understanding that violations may result in modification or loss of certification status
