Limitations of Authority
The Authority's certification scope is clearly defined and intentionally limited. ElitePetz:
Certification reflects conformity with ElitePetz's institutional standards within a defined scope and period of validity.
Relationship to Government Licensing & Business Accreditation
ElitePetz Certification operates independently of government licensing programs and private business accreditation organizations.
Government agencies, such as the USDA, administer licensing and inspection programs established by law. Those programs focus on regulatory compliance and minimum animal welfare requirements.
Business accreditation organizations, such as the Better Business Bureau (BBB), evaluate business practices, customer experience, and marketplace conduct.
ElitePetz serves a different purpose. The Authority provides voluntary certification for companion animal breeders using its own institutional standards, evaluating areas such as breeder transparency, documented health practices, certification oversight, and public certification verification.
ElitePetz Certification does not replace government licensing or private accreditation, nor does it imply endorsement by any government agency or external organization. Certification confirms that an applicant satisfied the Authority's institutional standards at the time of evaluation and remains subject to ongoing oversight through its documented governance system.
